Brief Trail Description |
|
Lincoln Mountain has a breathtaking view of Pikes Peak, the Rampart Range, and the eastern plains of Douglas County. The trail system takes visitors through the fields to a forested and rocky pass up to the flat top. From the trailhead, the Lincoln Mountain Trail is 4.2 miles round trip, and the Palmer Divide Ranch Trail is 4.5 miles round trip. The two may be joined together for an 8.3-mile outing.
Travel 4.5 miles on Palmer Divide
Ranch Trail through upland meadows
to Cherry Creek. Ascend to forested
rocky ledges that lead back toward
the trailhead. The 4.2-mile Lincoln
Mountain Trail traverses 400′ up the
open hillside of Lincoln Mountain and
skirts through Gambel oaks and a
scattering of pines and rhyolite rocks.
View Pikes Peak, Palmer Divide, and
ranchlands of the Upper Cherry
Creek Valley from the 7,394′ top. |
