Event Name
Ramsey-Shockey Open Space Pack Hike
Hike Location/Address/Directions/Map
Ramsey-Shockey Open Space
Pole Hill Rd, Loveland, CO 80537 (use googlemaps, apple maps doesn’t take to location)

From I-25, take US Hwy 34 west to County Road 29 and turn left (look for the sign that says Carter Lake). Travel south on County Road 29 for approximately 2 miles. Turn right on County Road 18 E, and continue approximately 2 miles to the entrance station where permits can be purchased for $10. After you have a permit, return to County Road 18 E and go west to Pinewood Reservoir and Ramsay-Shockey Open Space. (parking lot is the last one at the top of the reservoir, go past the camping area)

Brief Trail Description
Ramsay-Shockey Open Space has a four-mile natural surface trail that climbs gently and then contours around the Pinewood Reservoir. First half of the 4.1 loop will follow the Besant Point Trail which is in the trees and then the Shoshone Trail opens up along the reservoir.

This is a great hike to join for a single lap if you are just starting hiking with your Swissy or are building up to the weight and mileage requirements for an official pack hike leg.

Please RSVP, we wouldn’t want to leave without you. Plan to meet at 7:45 and be hiking by 8:00.

8 Mile back-to-back – 2 Day (16 miles total) There is a $10 day use permit fee.
