Brief Trail Description
The hike on day one will start with the 6-mile Lake Shore Loop, followed by 1-mile from the trailhead up the short turn trail and back. Day two will be the same trail, but opposite direction. This hike will begin at 9:00 am both days starting at the Lake Shore Trailhead.

Located in Iredell County 40 miles north of Charlotte, Lake Norman State Park boasts 17 miles of shoreline on Lake Norman, North Carolina’s largest man-made freshwater lake. The Lake Shore trail is an easy to moderate trail (393 ft elevation gain) with consistent views of the lake as it winds around a peninsula on the south end of the park. The trail is a well-marked, well-maintained packed dirt and does not allow any mountain bikes or horses. I have selected a route that is safe, with beautiful views, moderate elevation change, and benches for rest periods every couple miles. There are 3 road crossings for emergency exit points plus two short trails (0.1 mi) to an additional emergency exit point.
