It stretches from the Coast to the Polo Fields and we walked it a few weeks ago for 8 miles. It’s a really flat\, pretty walk on natural trail that isn’t too crowded. The main staging area is along the middle (shown as the 8.45mi marker on the Fitbit pic) and has a restroom. Trail exits with vehicle access are shown with the orange icons. The hike will be done mostly on trails which travel around the perimeter of the park which are mostly dirt and grass (some gravel). The terrain is mostly rolling with some moderate hills and ravines through the woodland sections. The trail difficulty would be described as moderate. Some sections around the lakes are fairly flat through native prairie. We will park and begin the hike at the Maple camping area marked on the trail map. After the first 5 mile leg we will camp in a field next to the Maple area. This is where we will meet to do the weigh-in. \nDirections: Traveling from the north or south of Pittsburgh\, take I-79 to the Route 60 exit and get onto Route 60 (Steubenville Pike) going west toward Robinson Township. Go about 1 mile\, then turn right (northwest) onto Beaver Grade Road. In about 0.3 mile\, continue straight on Beaver Grade at the first stop sign (where Silver Lane turns off to the left). Continue on Beaver Grade Road for another 1.2 miles (mostly downhill) until the road starts to flatten out in the valley\, then turn right onto Hickman/Old Beaver Grade and make an immediate left turn to continue on Old Beaver Grade Road. The road dead-ends at the Montour Trail about 300 yards ahead\, with Tail parking on the left.\n\n\nBrief Trail Description\n\n\n\nThe entire trail surface is crushed limestone\, relatively level rails to trails type of hike and access to grass and streams along the trail.
