Easily accessible from the USFS Campgrounds around the lake and the Matchless Boat Ramp. This out and back trail has minimal elevation gain but can be rocky in places. The Sugar Loafin’ Dam side of the trail provides plenty of access to lake shore great for fishing and views of the surrounding mountains. This hike will begin at 9:00 am both days starting at the Main Park Office. If there is interest in a day hike\, we can add 1-mile up and back on the Fox Squirrel Loop. \nLocated in Union County south of Charlotte and close to the South Carolina border\, Cane Creek Park is a 1\,050-acre\, family-friendly recreation area centered around a 350-acre lake\, offering a scenic setting for outdoor activities and relaxation year-round. The park also features picnic areas\, shelters and event spaces\, as well as multiple camping options. The trails are easy to moderate with < 300 ft of elevation gain. There are lake views on a significant portion of the trail. The trails are well-marked\, well-maintained packed dirt. I have selected a route that is safe\, with beautiful views\, moderate elevation change\, and plenty of opportunities for rest periods.
